Frequently asked questions
Short and honest: what the service does, what it does not, and how to use the result with customs.
Is this customs advice?
No. Invoice Duty Guard automatically evaluates published EU regulations and the TARIC database and shows which anti-dumping or countervailing duty rate may apply to an invoice line. There is no assessment of your individual case and no representation before customs authorities. Only the customs office's assessment is binding.
What if the producer on the invoice is named differently than in the regulation?
The individual rate applies only to the producer listed in the regulation with its TARIC additional code. Spelling variants, trading companies or subsidiaries are not automatically covered. The producer search shows all listed names and codes; when in doubt, ask your supplier to confirm the additional code.
Why do you pay more without the producer declaration?
Many regulations tie the individual rate to a declaration signed by the producer on the commercial invoice. If it is missing or incomplete, the rate for “all other companies” applies. The report shows both amounts and the wording your supplier must use.
How current is the data?
The database is reconciled every night against EUR-Lex (Official Journal) and the EU TARIC database; the data version is shown in every report and in the page footer. New regulations often appear a few days before their implementation in TARIC – the report then names the legal act with its date.
What does a check cost?
The check is free and shows which rate category applies. The documented report with amounts, declaration text, legal basis and audit protocol costs €4.00 net individually, from €3.50 per report in a package, and €2.00 for customs agencies on the partner rate.
How long is a report valid?
The report documents the legal status at the stated time (timestamp, data version, checksum). If the rate changes later, the report remains valid as proof of your diligence at the time; for a new customs declaration, check again. With notifications enabled we inform you about changes to your checked positions.
Can I present the report to the customs office?
Yes, as part of your records. It is information on published law with traceable sources (CELEX numbers, TARIC codes), not a binding decision. Print it via “Print / save as PDF”; the permanent link stays available for three years.
What if I lose my key?
On the “Account” page you can have the key sent to the e-mail address stored with the account. So store an address if the account does not have one yet.
Who is liable if the result is wrong?
We reproduce published legal acts and TARIC data and are liable under our Terms without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and in a limited way for slight negligence. Post-clearance duty claims that result from your classification, origin or invoice content are not compensable – these are your responsibility.
Is my check data passed on?
No. Check data stays on servers in Germany, is never passed to any AI service and is deleted after the periods stated in the privacy policy. Customs agencies receive a data processing agreement on request.
Which goods and countries are covered?
All EU anti-dumping and countervailing measures in force against goods originating in China, including producer-specific TARIC additional codes. Further countries of origin (India, Turkey, Vietnam) and anti-circumvention measures will follow; tell us if you need them.
How do I pay and get an invoice?
Via Stripe by card; the invoice with your VAT ID is e-mailed automatically. For businesses from other EU member states the reverse-charge mechanism applies. Customs agencies on the partner rate receive a monthly invoice payable by bank transfer.
